We believe

You and your partner are captivated by the idea of a stylized, colorful and curated wedding experience, but don't know where to even begin bringing to life the visions you have in your head.  Am I right?

If you’re looking at this page, it also means you aren't a fan of beige or bashful. Yes?  If so, you have definitely come to the right place! Here the color spectrum is wide, the inclusion deep, the whimsy is overflowing and we are anything but gray!

At Anything But Gray Events, we are theatrical, joyful, and transparent. We specializes in full-scale and immersive wedding experiences for all kinds of loving, creative, and colorful couples. From beginning to end, we are here to help our couples through their own, unique wedding journey. Finding their venue, build their inclusive vendor team, cultivating their design vision, and executing all the unsexy (but very necessary) logistics along the way.

We want to plan and design a wedding that looks and feels like YOU.

Anything But Gray Events offers all loving couples a one-of-a-kind wedding experience that your guests will never forget! You don't want just wedding planner, but  rather, you need a stage manager that will direct your day from curtain rising until the standing ovation.

Proudly (and loudly) serving the LGBTQIA+ community and collaborating with other women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+-owned and operated vendors and other small businesses.

We take on a limited number of clients per year in order to give each one the focus and attention they deserve. If this is you, keep reading!

Wedding Management

Starting at $8,000

 WEDDING PLANNING & DESIGN

For couples seeking a more cost-effective option, we offer a Wedding Management,

Wedding Management includes lots of expert advice, referrals, and a focus on the logistical side of event functionality as you head into the final months prior to your wedding.

Ideal for couples in want of a more truncated, less hands-on option and are willing to put in the extra hours on their own.

It does NOT include any design elements.

Wedding Management can be booked up to 6 months or fewer before you wedding date. Services begin 3 months prior to your wedding.

We do not offer "day-of" coordination.
Wedding Management is our smallest offering.

Here is the HONEST truth. If another planner is telling you that you 150 guest wedding in SoCal will be 40k, they are not being truthful or realistic with you. Yes, hiring a seasoned professional is an expense, but there is a greater expense in hiring and amateur. After 13 years in the wedding industry, we can help you allocate in the best possible ways while being realistic about the hard costs of planning a large-scale event.

We don't list the following numbers to scare you, but rather educate and be transparent about realistic wedding costs in California and the overall budgets of weddings you see in our portfolio.

Most venue rentals in Southern California alone range from 10k-20k, depending on aspects such as venue capacity, parking, location, included rentals items, etc.. This does not include hotel venues which require hotel room blocks along with you location rental.

The minimum overall budget we work with is flexible, generally we work with wedding budgets of $125-200k and beyond. All the imagery you see in our galleries, social media, and videos are weddings that reflect that. This breakdown to of 1k to 2k per guest. We can certainly accommodate larger guest counts, but the pricing will be reflected in this as they require additional time, labor, and teammates. We recommend our clients to focus on quality over quantity. A curated guest count can help ensure a better guest experience, overall.

We are not a great fit if you are just looking for “day of coordination.

Picture it...

Close your eyes and count to 60. That was one minute. Planning a wedding will require at least 6,000 of those (or 100+ hours) In most cases, planning a wedding from top to bottom can far exceed that amount, by up to 400 hours in total! With a full-time job, personal responsibilities, and lots of Netflix and chill to catch up on, how do you plan on doing that without Anything But Gray Events at your side?

Wedding at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club

"If I could give six stars I would. Holly is like a 3-star Michelin chef but her kitchen is your venue and your event is the dish she carefully and lovingly crafts with all your favorite ingredients. Not just my partner and I were blown away by the creativity, attention to detail, and professionalism that Holly brought to our wedding--but our guests shared in that sentiment as well. Many claiming it was "one of, if not the best wedding" they've ever been to. You can't put a price on that."

Jared & Stephen
Wedding at THE ebell of Los Angeles

"Where to begin with sweet Holly Gray! From start to finish, Holly had our best interests at heart, with advice and suggestions to ensure we were choosing the right vendors and making the right choices for our needs. She brings a big, fun energy, with a professionalism that gets the job done! Even though we had a very clear vision with what we wanted the aesthetic of the wedding to be, Holly helped us refine the details, knowing the space, and what would work best to achieve our dream wedding! She collaborated with our vendors and came up with the perfect creations for us. She was considerate, and caring, and took time with us."

"Having worked with other couples from the LGBTQ+ community many times before, Holly understands what “queering” weddings mean. We draw from while also question standards; we revere while also provoke traditions. She heard us and made sense of our ideas. She creatively explored options while also recognized our uncertainties. She pushed when needed but always made sure we were comfortable. She was professional while also being fun to be around. She translated & tempered our expectations, and coordinated & cared for our team of vendors."

booking faqs:

1. How far in advance of my wedding should I book?

It depends on your package and wedding size. Typically we work with clients 6-12 months prior to their wedding date. Reach out sooner rather than later, as our team books out quickly and take on a select number of clients per year.

2. How do I book with you?

Get in touch through my contact page to schedule a consultation. After our consultation, you’ll receive a custom proposal to review for your colorful event. To save your date, sign the contract and submit a percentage-based non=refundable retainer.

3. What about COVID-19?

In 2020-2021 we postponed over 20 weddings and events due to COVID-19. All joking aside, our team deserves a medal for that! Our team is fully vaccinated and boosted. Changes due to COVID-19 are on a case by case basis and subject to CDC and State guidelines. The safety of our team, guests, vendors, and guests is of the utmost importance.

offerings faqs:

1. Do you offer day-of coordination?

Simply put, NO. That terms is very much a misnomer in the wedding industry. Due to the large amount of detail required to make an event run seamlessly (as is my style), I do not offer day-of coordination. I want my couples to show up to their wedding day knowing that all of the work has been done ahead of time. Although I like to think that I have a magic wand, I do not believe in merely showing up to a wedding for day-of coordination. Instead, I offer Wedding Management, a smaller package that includes tidying up loose ends a couple months before the wedding and then, of course, managing things on the day-of with a complete understanding of every piece.

2. Do you plan only weddings?

We provide planning & design services for weddings, corporate, and social events of all sizes and scales. Every proposal is customized for the specific event needs and guest experience. This includes weddings, mitzvahs, birthdays, and other milestone life moments.

3. Do you plan micro weddings?

Yes, I have partnered with The Los Angeles Small Weddings Collective to provide small weddings of 10 people or less that fall within the current California COVID guidelines.
Choose from 6 curated intimate wedding experiences from LA's best planners at 9 venues and featuring over 40 wedding professionals. We've thought of everything so you don't have to, from a marriage license delivered to your event to beautiful extras. All streamlined and stress-free. Visit the collective here to learn more about the experiences.

4. How many planners are included in your packages?

In any given package, there will be 1 planner and at least 1 assistant at your event. Additional assistants may be added depending on the number of guests, services and venue locations. I can customize and tailor to your event needs.

5. Do you travel?

I love to travel. Most of my events are in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and Ventura County, but I will travel anywhere with an additional travel fee. Weddings or events more than 50 miles from my headquarters as well as out of state weddings require a fee for travel and hotel accommodations. Don’t worry about booking travel arrangements for me, as I’ll take care of that once the fee is submitted!

6. Do you plan events other than weddings?

Although wedding planning is my pride and joy, I am happy to plan any event where this is a group of people, food and good times. I am versed in planning corporate events, proposals, retirement parties, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, business openings, gender reveal parties and bachelorette festivities.

other faqs:

1. We are not planning a luxury wedding. Do we still need a wedding planner?

On average, our clients overall budgets range from 90k-300k+. In order to be able to produce the immersive, experiential results our clients look to Anything But Gray Events for, we need to be able to have an overall budget that supports their vision to its fullest.

2. Is Anything But Gray Events LGBTQIA+ Affirming?

100% Yes, yes and YES! I welcome all loving couples. Anything But Gray Events is an inclusive company that represents ALL people equally. I know same-sex couples can be fearful when reaching out to wedding vendors. Sadly, this industry has not caught up as quickly as it should. Anything But Gray Events is here to change that! Love is love.

3. What if we booked an Airbnb for our wedding?

I take careful consideration of permitting and local restrictions when it comes to weddings. I want to make sure that my clients are taken care of with a licensed and insured property. That can't always be guaranteed with a venue rental service. For this reason, I do not plan events that take place at Airbnbs.

4. My venue provides a coordinator. Should I still hire a wedding planner? Is there a difference between the two?

Most venues welcome and will highly encourage you to bring your own wedding planner in addition to their on-site coordinator. Venue coordinators are provided by the venue for the venue, not the couple. They are not responsible for the months of planning, design and logistics. They do not run the ceremony, decorate the site or keep track of the timeline throughout the night. Venue coordinators often act only as the liaison for the venue — answering questions, making sure doors are unlocked and that the venue is clean. Venue coordinators and wedding planners are both very important positions but serve completely different purposes. Your venue manager and wedding planner should work in tandem to ensure that the event is a success. Check your contract and talk to the venue to understand what the venue coordinator is responsible for.

5. My venue requires an insured wedding planner. Are you insured?

Yes, I carry 1 million dollars of insurance for protection. I encourage you to obtain wedding insurance as well which I am happy to assist you with.
